Aidan Valentine has a modest farm, a beautiful wife, and a neighbor who has too much interest in both. Faith has entered his life on more than one occasion, but the truth behind her odd disappearances leave him shocked and confused.

Wrenched from her husband on the happiest night of her life, Faith is thrown back in time to a cruel, past life. A family legacy she can’t control is her only hope of returning to Aidan. Faith will stop at nothing to return to the man she loves, even if it will kill her.

Faithfully Yours The Forever Time Travel Romance Series Book 1 edition by Carol A Spradling Romance eBooks

This is a time-travel romance, where the heroine leaves an abusive relationship by traveling a few decades into the future, where her true love awaits. The premise is interesting and I read it with high hopes, because I love time travel romances. Unfortunately, I was let down.

My biggest problem was the lack of realism. In order for us to suspend disbelief and accept that something supernatural is possible, the book must be grounded in realism. Everything possible must be done to make us believe the story is real, so that when something impossible happens (aka time travel) we don't roll our eyes and snort soda through our nose. Specifically, for a historical romance to be believable, it must contain elements of history. This book is supposedly set in the 18th century, yet there is absolutely nothing in the story to support that date. They're in the middle of nowhere, with only three secondary characters, besides the heroine. There is no mention of a nearby town or city, and (aside from a highly unlikely rabid wolf that nobody seemed to care about) there was no description of wildlife or local plant life, so I had no idea where in the world they were.

Also, nobody dressed according to the style of the 18th century. A little research goes a long way. The heroine wears a blouse, and a slip under her dress. The problem is, these garments didn't exist in the 18th century. A woman would have worn a bodice and a petticoat. She also would have been wearing stays, of which there's no mention. (Yes, even a poor farmer's wife would have worn stays.) There's also the problem of modern mindset. The heroine rejects a certain dress as being too low-cut. Except, in the 18th century, all dresses were low-cut. That was the style and it was perfectly acceptable. If a woman wanted to be a little more modest, she tucked a kerchief into her neckline to hide her cleavage. It's what was done.

There was an excellent opportunity to show the effects of living with an abusive husband for so long. Yet, after a brief mention of, "Oh, my new husband is different from my old husband," there is no demonstration of post traumatic stress, or battered woman's syndrome, or anything. She just cozies up to the new guy without batting an eye. This is not realistic. Granted, it is fantasy and you don't want to get over-realistic with the mundane stuff that would make a story either too boring or too gritty. But I would have appreciated even a token attempt at realism. Instead, it's as if the characters live in a timeless void. There is no real world beyond the boundaries of the story. And that bothered me tremendously.

I will give this novel two stars, because I did like the premise. But if the author intends to write more books, she needs to work on creating full, rich environments with three-dimensional characters. Having a good idea isn't enough. You have to flesh it out, and in order to do that, you have to do the research.

Faithfully Yours The Forever Time Travel Romance Series Book 1 edition by Carol A Spradling Romance eBooks Reviews

I've always loved reading time travels, so I was very anxious to read this book. I commend this author for taking the genre and giving it a different and unique twist. Faith Valentine time travels within her own lifetime, rather that going backward or forward in time by centuries. Adding to the uniqueness of the plot, the heroine doesn't realize she has the ability to time travel at first, and finds out about her ability and family secret in small increments throughout the story. I love how Faith's ability to time travel matures sort of like going through puberty. Having read several of the author's other books, I can say that this one follows along her usual style of witty dialogue and commentary from her characters, along with a heartwarming romance. Bravo, Carol Spradling, for bringing such an original story to life. I look forward to the second installment in this series.
Start off with fantasy, a man who loves you totally but only in your dreams. Wake up to a very abusive husband who breaks bones when he gets mad. Talk with the magic lady on the hill and discover time travel, not just time travel but the fact that she knows the man of your dream time. It sounds complicated, and it is just a little bit. Overall the story is well written, you feel the angst when passion causes travel, but you don't know if it will go forward or backward in time. I really did enjoy reading this book, the abuse was a little bit close to home for me, but that just made it more realistic. Sisters add to the mystery of this story, why one is old and one isn't.
Sometimes the story jumps around a little bit, but when you're going forward and backward in time you expect to jump a little bit.
This is a new author (for me) and I have to say that she wrote a book with everything that I really love in it! There is time travel, suspense, romance and well written characters. This book is about a wife that travels between two husbands, Aidan and Hank who are 40 yrs apart in time. What I really liked was that this was not a typically time travel book-and kept me on my toes until the very end, throw in a very mysterious "witch" Trista and it makes for a very good story. I cant wait for others to follow in this series. I really hope you give this book a try and love it as much as I did! Enjoy!
It is a good time traveling story, however I am a little confused as to the back ground of Faith's gift, I know she got it from her mother, but I feel it needed more insight. It was also said that either she had to die by the hands of Hank, or he by her hands, yet at the end it seems Aiden killed him, or did Faith die? Faith dying didn't seem to fit since Trisha was adamant about saving Faith. Maybe I'll have to re read the book to get more clarification or maybe someone could clear up the ending for me. I give it 4 stars because the story ( even w some confusion), kept me interested, as I am a big fan of these type of books. It was worth the read. I hope book 2 continues w Faith and Aiden, and it tells us who Trisha really is. I would definitely recommend this book.
It's unfortunate that this book uses Time Travel because Time Travel is such an interesting concept to play with. If you had read no time travel stories before then this book would put you off the concept forever. This book is intended to be read as the first in a series and primarily sets the background for them. The author makes a lot of use of mystery elements, but not only fails to deliver answers or even hints of answers but uses them as a cheap ploy to try and get readers to purchase more of her books. However, the characters were so boring and the plot so pathetic that this reader has no interest in finding the answers to any of the questions raised. I gave it two stars because the Author does, at least, have a reasonable grasp of spelling and punctuation.
